A great combo for the BackPacker and APRS by Stephen Smith In order to run APRS you should have: 1. A Radio that will transmit and receive on 144.390mhz FM 2. A TNC (KPC3 Plus) or tracker (TinyTrack III) to Convert the Radio Mic and Speaker information to a digital signal 2a. or you could use a program that will act like a TNC that uses your computer sound card. If you do this I recommend the RIGblaster or Nomic from West Mountain that will interface between your radio and your computer. 3. Cables to connect your TNC or Audio interface to the Radio and Computer RPC Electronics cables 4. Cables for your Garmin products.
